3.3. Network Infrastructure Services

💡 First Principle: A server that can't communicate is useless. Network configuration isn't just "assign an IP address"—it's ensuring the server has correct addressing, can resolve names, belongs to the right network segments, and communicates through appropriate firewalls. Every layer of network configuration must be correct for services to work.

The troubleshooting domain tests network connectivity heavily (4.5, 4.6), and virtually every troubleshooting scenario has a network component. Understanding network services correctly in Phase 3 pays dividends in Phase 5.
